Inspecting the Roof

In this page we will discuss how Mose handles inspecting the roof of your home.

A professional home inspection is conducted based on industry standards of practice. At Mose Home Inspection Services we base ourselves on is the InterNACHI Quebec standards of practice. On this page we use the term “home” but the following equally applies to condominiums as well.

The roof of your home is like a shield that keeps your house safe and dry. Unfortunately, the roof is often the part of the home that gets neglected the most.

At Mose Home Inspection Services we recommend that home owners think of checking their roof regularly like seeing your doctor for an annual checkup, the more regularly you do it the less trouble you’ll have.

Why a Roof Inspection is Needed

The building materials on your roof will wear out over time. In the Montreal, Laval and South Shore regions we get our fair share of ; severe weather conditions (e.g., extreme heat and cold, wind and snow and ice loads); building movement (e.g., settlement, material contraction/ expansion); and poor design, construction and maintenance.

Roof repairs that are not dealt with early on can result in more damage to your home, inside and out. This can lead to costly repairs and reduce the overall value of your home.

How to Conduct a Roof Inspection

At Mose Home Inspection Services we take the safety of our
inspectors and our clients very seriously and we adhere to the safety standards of our industry. Depending on the ease
of access to the roof and the conditions (snow, ice, excessive winds) it may not be possible for the inspector to go onto the roof. In any case a visual inspection using cameras coupled with the information that can be gathered from the interior inspection will give the inspector satisfactory information to complete their report.

This ensures that your inspection will be conducted properly with no incidents and your home will be protected from any damages.
