In this page we will discuss the Mose home inspection process.
A professional home inspection is conducted based on industry standards of practice. At Mose Home Inspection Services we base ourselves on is the ASHI & Inter-NACHI standards of practice. On this page we use the term “home” but the following equally applies to condominiums as well.
At Mose Home Inspection Services we begin our home inspections from the outside. There are a lot of reasons for this, not the least of which being we often arrive before the brokers or the buyer so this allows us to get our work done as soon as possible.
Being careful not to disturb anything your inspector will walk around the property to carefully observe various aspects of the condition of the homes exterior. Your inspector will not pull or pick on anything but will use their keen eyes and perhaps a pair of binoculars to discern what they believe the good and not so good aspects of the home are.
Homes in the greater Montreal, Laval and South Shore region take a beating during our legendary winters. Very cold and wet winters and hot humid summers take their toll on building surfaces. Your Mose home inspector will inspect the wall coverings such as;
Bricks
Foundation (visible only)
Siding
Paint
Flashing (eaves, soffits, fascia’s etc.)
Then they will inspect the windows, (sills, caulking, general condition and age).
All doors including the garage will be inspected to insure they are I good working order. Items like the seal, lock function, hinges, sill and motor function (for garage doors) will be verified.
We next turn our attention to the exterior structures attached to the property. These structures include;
Decks
Balconies
Stoops
Steps
Porch
Railings
The surrounding land that the home is located on will also be inspected to understand the impact the terrain has on the home’s condition. We will observe and report on;
Surface drainage
Grading
Retaining walls
Walkways
Patios
Driveway
Vegetation
